Rose Lemonade Recipe

When I was in Dubai, one of the hotels I was at had “rose water lemonade” on the menu. I became obsessed with drinking this as it makes for the perfect hot weather refresher. I purchased a bottle of rosewater from the Souk there to bring back to Toronto, and subsequently purchased other bottles of rosewater and dried rose petals off of Amazon.

After some experimenting with ingredients, I came up with a healthy recipe for rose lemonade.

If you do not have access to bottled rosewater, you can make your own. You will need:

  • 1/4 cup of edible dried rose petals
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of water

Bring both the dried rose petals and water to a boil, allow to cool, then filter into a glass bottle or jar

For a pitcher of rose lemonade, you will need the following:

  • 5 cups of cold water
  • 1 cup of fresh lemon juice (most grocery stores sell this pure with no sugar or preservatives added)
  • 1 cup of rosewater
  • 3 tablespoons honey or agave nectar
  • 1 tablespoon of Angostura bitters (optional but my fellow Caribbean islanders will be familiar with this in lemonade)
  • Stir all ingredients with a large wooden spoon
  • Pour mixture into glass cups
  • Add ice cubes
  • garnish with edible rose petals (optional)
  • Enjoy your homemade rose(water) lemonade
